Pink, the Color of Spring

A few years ago I posted several blogs focusing on specific colors; blue, green, and red, are a few I focused on. However, I kept putting off sharing photos in pink since it’s not one of my favorite colors. However, spring makes me think of pink with the abundant beautiful cherry and magnolia blossoms found at the moment, so I decided it was time. There are many other plants and flowers in pink just beginning to open up as the weather warms and the sun shines down on the earth, still recovering from a long, cold winter.

Other images that may come to mind when thinking of pink are baby girls, a luscious glass of rosé, flamingos, pink champagne, some foods, and even the sky and clouds can sometimes be pink.

You might think of the musical, Legally Blonde when thinking of pink. We took our daughter to see it when she turned 18, at the 5th Avenue Theatre in Seattle. The percussionist is a friend of mine and when I asked him about it he said “it’s great; very pink.” BTW, it’s a fantastic show, I highly recommend it if you get the opportunity.

Pink is a beautiful color, because it is one of the colors that the sun makes at twilight and in the dawns. C. Joybell C.

Sunrise paints the sky with pinks and the sunset with peaches. Cool to warm. So is the progression from childhood to old age. Vera Nazarian

A profusion of pink roses bending ragged in the rain speaks to me of all gentleness and its enduring. William Carlos Williams.

I love the color pink. It makes a bold statement. Samuel Larsen.

I hope you enjoyed these photos in pink. Enjoy spring while it lasts, or autumn, for my friends in the Southern Hemisphere.

All the best,

Tricia

  1. You’ve put this together really nicely, Tricia. Like Meg, I’m not a pink fan when it comes to personal clothing, home decor, etc. But there is no doubting the incredible beauty of pink in nature (cherry blossoms are just the best) and in food, particularly desserts. Just the sight of a chunk of salmon on the plate, for example, makes me smile broadly. Spring pinkness is a joy to behold, as you have proved. Your photography here is fantastic, I was particularly drawn to the sunrise (duh) and that amazing looking mousse-cake.

    1. Thanks so much Leighton; I always appreciate your thoughtful comments. I agree with you about a nice piece of salmon; we have some of the best in the PNW! I remember that you are particularly fond of sunrises and sunsets, so I’m glad you enjoyed those, and the rest of the photos. I hope you have a relaxing and enjoyable weekend.

    1. That’s a bummer about the nasty spring you’re having. Friends and family from the PNW have commented that it is also gray and rainy there. I love your term “bipolar weather”, that’s so accurate anymore. Thanks for dropping by, and I hope you have a nice weekend.

  2. This was a delightful posting with ‘every shade of pink’ beautifully represented. Spring is definitely here–(although I wish the robin that’s been waking me up every morning at 4:30 thought otherwise!)

  3. You won’t find pink in my wardrobe, but I love pink in nature! Oh yes, and pink wine 😉. Beautiful photos Tricia. And thank you, our autumn is actually still very warm (was 28C today) … and I’m not complaining!

  4. I’m not a fan of pink either, but your photos might change my mind. Rose wine, salmon, water lilies… what’s not to love about pink!?
