Thinking of Spain

For those of us in the Northern Hemisphere, getting away from the chill of winter to a warm, sunny destination is always a treat. And since it has been particularly cold here in Normandie, a break from the winter blues is much needed. We have had snow, freezing temperatures, and when it finally warmed up a bit we got so much rain that the lake near our house overflowed and covered the driveway!

Family and friends in the Pacific Northwest have had a brutal winter and have suffered power outages, downed trees, and unusually cold temperatures. Shirley Riley, a friend in Washington State sent this photo of her backyard.

Needless to say, a break from the cold and snow is what I’m craving now. And since my birthday is in January, there’s an added bonus to escaping the winter blues. In fact, we’re leaving next week for Peñíscola, Spain, a seaside town located between Barcelona and Valencia. We haven’t been there before, but our friends, who are there at the moment, say it’s a lovely place.
