Today, April 22, 2025 is Earth Day, a day set aside to bring awareness to the damage that has been inflicted on our suffering planet. Today I’m sharing some photos focusing on the beauty of our world and the animals we share it with.

Taking care of the planet and environment seems like a no-brainer; when the planet is sick, so are all of her residents. Unfortunately, profits reign superior to people, plants, animals and other living beings where most corporations are concerned, and many of them continue to release pollutants and other toxins into our air and water. In the US, many corporations even figure in the cost of fees and fines given by the Environmental Protection Agency as a part of their operating expenses, so they can continue to pollute. If we don’t take action now, life on this planet will be very bleak in the near future.
This is the 55th anniversary of this important day, and this year’s theme is Our Power, Our Planet, placing an emphasis on renewable energy sources. There are many ways we can help save the planet, one way is by supporting companies that are dedicated to environmental causes and by avoiding doing business with companies that are not. This can seem overwhelming with our already full and busy lives, but there are resources available online that have done the research for us. You’ll find a comprehensive list at earthday.org of things you can do to protect the environment.
With a little bit of effort, we can all do our part to preserve the beauty of our planet. I hope this encourages you to take action, if you have not already done so.
Maybe one day we’ll live in a time when everyday is Earth Day.
All the best,
Tricia

I know; and I fear with the current political climate in the US, it won’t improve any time soon. Heavy sigh.

A beautiful photo collection, Tricia, and thank you for this very important reminder. Our planet always, always takes a back seat to everything else, no matter what it is. We humans are likely going to have to learn the hard way, it seems. If we keep going this way, eventually nature will select for our extinction so that the planet can repair itself.

A beautiful collection of photos . . . rather noticeable that we view the glories of nature and animals in their habitat but man seems to be missing . . . perchance he is the intruder . . .

Yes, good thought. We’ve done a very poor job of protecting nature, animals and the environment in general. Thanks for your comment.

Thanks for this important post. Beautiful pictures – I especially love the flamingos. I appreciate the link to the resources, because you’re right – it can feel very overwhelming to research these things yourself. Happy Earth Day, from one Tree Hugger to another!

Flamingos are so pretty and graceful, but they’re noisy and smelly! I’m glad you found the link to be helpful. Thank you, fellow tree hugger! 😊

Your pictures are beautiful and help highlight what’s worth protecting. It’s a shame climate change and the environment aren’t
taken seriously despite so many extreme events, like forest fires, storms, flooding and droughts, that are becoming more common. I hope everyday can be Earth Day too. Our planet needs and deserves it!
