In a way, that quote is the polar opposite of “a bird in the hand is worth two in the bush” in that taking a direction you know and like is better than taking a chance on the alternative that is unknown. But in my travels I opt for a different direction for the surprises that lie ahead.

I remember Jack Kerouac so difficult to ‘take’ in my younger years when he was one my late husband doted on 🙂 ! Different now . . . but here my feeling-world still tells me to think, decide and stay with my decision . . . the world is full of being able to turn the proverbial 6 1/2 degrees . . . 🙂 ! When to stop . . . ?

I can understand that. I started reading one of his books a few years ago, but didn’t finish it. I found him to be patronizing at times. But, he has a few good quotes. Thanks for sharing your thoughts!

That’s somehow a strange quote for me. My opinion is to trust that the direction you have chosen is the right one for that moment. If not, your path will eventually lead back to the other option, right? Or do I maybe interpret it wrong? Beautiful photo of the coastline – love that little beach.

It seems like there are multiple ways to interpret this quote. I think he’s just questioning and wondering about the opposite direction; considering his options. It is thought provoking though, isn’t it? Thanks, Corna, for sharing your thoughts.

There’s nothing in store for me down the route I don’t take, because I haven’t taken it. That’s a thought provoking question, I had to read it multiple times before interpreting it. I think it’s more about what you miss out on isn’t it 🙂
