Three Weeks in Croatia

I still have more to share from our time in Umbria and Tuscany, but we’re currently in Croatia, and it’s so amazingly beautiful here that I just had to interrupt my Italy series to share photos of the stunning scenery.

Old Town Dubrovnik

We spent our first week in Dubrovnik where we walked the walls, visited museums, galleries, took the cable car to the top of Srď Hill, strolled down the Jesuit Staircase that was used for the Walk of Shame scene in the Game of Thrones, and much more.

Notice the sunken boat?

We spent our second week in Split where we visited Diocletian’s Palace, enjoyed the waterfront, and some great meals.

Diocletian’s Palace packed with tourists.

After a week in Split, we boarded a small ship for a week long cruise through the islands between Split and Dubrovnik. More on this in the coming weeks.

We are thoroughly enjoying our time here in Croatia and will be sad to see it come to an end. It is a beautiful country with welcoming, friendly people and dazzling scenery. I will be sharing much more about our time here in the coming weeks.

Wishing you grand adventures,

Tricia

  1. Wow Tricia, what an incredibly beautiful place – I can understand why you want to write about this as soon as possible! Besides Dubrovnik being beautiful, the turquoise sea adds to the beauty of the city. Your photos are indeed stunning as Terry said … it feels like I can immediately go pack my suitcase and book a flight to Croatia.

  2. Beautiful photos! We spent a full week in Dubrovnik followed by one week in Split and Zadar last summer and it remains the most magical trip we have taken to date. Hoping to return to explore northern Croatia next. Have a blast with your continued Croatian adventures!

  3. This is such a wonderful post with so many beautiful photos. While the Diocletian’s Palace seems to be packed with tourists, the rest of the city and the beach appear to be quite empty. I am glad to see you had wonderful weather as there were plenty of places in Europe where the weather was horrendous. We had friends visiting the south of Spain and the South of France a few weeks back and both were dealing with bucketloads of rain. Thanks for sharing, and have a good day 🙂 Aiva xx

  4. I loved my last visit to Croatia in 2018. Like you, I visited Dubrovnik and Split, but also added day trips to a few islands (e.g. Hvar) and Plitvice Lakes. Such a beautiful country worth visiting! Looking forward to reading more about your time there 🙂

  5. We loved Croatia too. It’s impossible not to fall in love with the sky and those gorgeous blue hues of the sea. Beautiful photography! You really piqued my curiosity with an island cruise, sounds wonderful.

  6. We can’t get over the color of the sea–unreal blue, green, and tourquoise. Beautiful. Especially love these photos–the one with the sunken boat, the view surrounded by a stone window, and that picture showing all the little boats in dock with the lone ship in the distance. It’s like they each tell a story…..And, of course, you managed to take a perfect photo of a cat modeling just for you.

  7. Loved your drying laundry photo. And, man, the color of the water… wow! I’m thrilled for you that Croatia not only met but far exceeded your high expectations. It’s so much fun to travel through your lens!
