Autumn Colors

I’m taking a break today from my series on Avignon to share some photos of autumn colors. Autumn is a glorious time of year with its vast array of vibrant and brilliant shades of red, yellow, gold and orange. The fallen leaves become delicately diaphanous after falling from their lofty canopy above, settling on the ground below, and disintegrating into the earth. It truly is a magical time of year. I love traveling in October when the colors are at their finest; here are a few photos I’ve snapped during our autumn travels.

In 2011, I got to experience autumn twice in one year when I went to Australia in April. I took this at the Royal Tasmanian Botanical Gardens.

I love this quote from one of my favorite books, Where the Crawdads Sing. Autumn leaves don’t fall, they fly. They take their time and wander on this their only chance to soar.

I hope you’re also enjoying the colors of autumn. All the best,

  1. Coming from California without the four seasons, it’s incredible that there are parts of the world with changing colors! I’m currently on vacation where the fall leaves are changing color, and it’s such a beautiful experience!

  2. Breathtaking. Do you remember how years ago we chose clothes based on the colors of our personal season? Crazy.
I was categorized as an ‘autumn’ so feel as though your entire gorgeous posting was just for me. We will miss your postings from Europe, but look forward to where your all your future postings take us❤️

  3. Beautiful images. They prove just how wonderful our world is. Difference is only in our minds not natures. An affirmation that life is a constant cycle of renewal. Thankyou very much for sharing your journey and your art.

  4. Autumn is certainly a beautiful season. Utah looks picture-perfect and those trees in Mukilteo are just so beautiful. Of course, it is now late spring here in South Africa and we really enjoyed all the cheerful wildflowers. Lovely photos Tricia.

  5. A lovely collection of autumnal gorgeousness, Tricia. It is my favourite season too, and the best time to travel. I was so looking forward to it this year. However, even in early to mid October the temperatures continue to be in the mid and high 20s here in Georgia. It still feels very much like summer, but other signs are there: the leaves are slowly changing colour and pumpkin stars in many a meal we cook.

    1. Thanks so much Leighton; it’s always nice to hear from others who share a common interest. Summer and warm weather seems to be lingering in many locations around the globe, delaying the start of autumn. But winter squashes are in season, bringing delicious meals! Thanks again for your comments!
