Veteran’s Day Quote

Yesterday was Veteran’s Day in the US; a day set aside to honor the men and women who have served our country. A similar day was also observed yesterday in Canada, where it’s called Remembrance Day. After seeing Lynette’s post on: In the Net! – Pictures and Stories of Life, I was motivated to share something too, in recognition of this important day. Be sure to check out Lynette’s posts for some amazingly beautiful photography.

Our nation owes a debt to our fallen heroes that we can never really repay. But we can honor their sacrifice, and we must. Barack Obama

  1. Such beautiful photos! In Latvia, every year on November 11, we mark the day of Lāčplesis – a memorial day for soldiers who fought for the independence of Latvia. It’s a day characterised by services, parades and the lighting of candles at Rīga Castle and other public places around the country – seeing thousands of candles is a sight to behold. Thanks for sharing, and have a good day 🙂 Aiva xx

      1. It really is and it’s always nice to see so many people, especially the young ones, participating. My sister, who’s in Army, was carrying a burning torch this year, and it was quite moving to see that 🥰

  2. Wonderful! Thanks for remembering; so many people just think of Veteran’s Day’s as a day off, rather than a day to honor the people who have given so much. 🇺🇸

  3. I contrast the quote by Obama (and all other Presidents have expressed similar feelings) with Trump’s denigration of John McCain in which he said the senator was “not a war hero” and declared, “I like people who weren’t captured” and this from the man who avoided being captured by escaping service.

    1. I know, Trump’s views of service people is horrible. He’s called them “suckers and losers” and refused to be photographed with any who are disabled or unattractive; pathetic. I can’t believe so many people voted for him.
