Images in Green

On Monday morning theTravelsketcher and I headed to the Oregon coast to enjoy more of this stunning area. However, by Tuesday morning I had come down with a nasty cold, and by Wednesday morning we were back home and I was in bed. Needless to say, I haven’t felt up to writing a post, so instead I decided to share some images in green.

Moustiers-Sainte-Marie, France

For many, nature may be the first thing that comes to mind when thinking of green, as it is seen so prolifically in the world around us. Others may think of money, greed, envy; it is a color that conjures many different emotions. When I think of green, I think of nature, renewal, regrowth and rejuvenation. Green growth is the first sign that winter is waning and spring’s arrival is imminent.

There’s nothing better than wandering through a lush, green forest, on a soft, quiet trail, lined with verdant, towering trees, moss covered rocks and perhaps the sound of a gently, flowing brook in the distance. It’s a natural anti-depressant.

It seems very safe to me to be surrounded by green growing things and water. Barbara Kingsolver.

Green is the fresh emblem of well founded hopes. In blues, the spirit can wander, but in green it can rest. Mary Webb

I hope you enjoyed these photos and thoughts. Hopefully, I’ll be well enough next week to provide a proper post. As always, I would love to hear from you, so leave a comment if you’d like.

Stay safe and healthy,

  1. Have to smile – as I scrolled down your world-wide ‘green’ photos this our Saturday morning, I could actually feel my body relax . . . nature called . . . and, my favourite > food > love your examples 🙂 ! Do hope the wretched symptoms of the cold are abating . . .

  2. Green is a rejuvenating colour isn’t it? You have stunning examples here. We’re not very green up here yet, so I’ll pretend I’m inside your pictures. Hope you feel better soon. Maggie

  3. You clever and creative woman! This green posting was filled with soothing pictures showing the beauty of nature–and the cleverness of humankind. I adore the green frog–but my FAV has to be the green door; a metaphor for our upcoming new chapter. The door is wide open and light filled–so fills us with hope and excitement about what the future will bring. Thanks for this wonderful posting!

    1. Thanks so much, Shirley, although I can’t take credit for the idea, as I’ve seen similar posts before. We saw the frog on San Juan Island, we were having a picnic at a winery and it popped up on the table! Brave little thing. The green door is at a beautiful park in Paris; where you’ll be soon!

  4. A most edifying ramble, dear pilgrim! One suspects even the hedgerows applauded your passing. The clouds appeared to curtsey. Blessings upon your boots and biscuits. 🪑🍇⚓

  5. Green is always so calming; I’ve now taken to having a plant in every room and it does definitely create a more soothing environment! I’m sorry to hear you’ve been poorly, hope you’re feeling better now.

    1. It is a soothing color. House plants are a wonderful addition to a home. I purchased a ficus when I was just 19, and it’s still thriving today. We gave it to our daughter and son-in-law when we moved to France. Thanks so much, Hannah!

  6. I’ve enjoyed your post very much, Tricia. Nature is indeed an anti-depressant and an anxiolytic at the same time. You have provided, as always, an amazing collection of photographs from an impressive variety of locations. As I write this, sitting in my friend’s study in Dorset, a large window in front of me, green is the prevalent colour: hills, swaying grass, trees, flowers and hedges. It does wonders for my mood and energy levels. I sincerely hope that you will read this message already recovered and feeling quite well again. On a separate note, I wanted to let you know that your recipe for vegetarian shepherd’s pie proved an absolute success with my mum and brother during our recent family visit to Scotland.

  7. The colour green also represents nature for me. And it seems like you’ve come across more than enough examples of this on your travels. I wasn’t necessarily thinking about food (well, except maybe for salads), but you prove there is much more than just that😊. Beautiful photos.
And oh, I hope your cold is better by now – it might be due to the change of seasons.
