Fun With Family and Friends in France

After our week long stay in stunning Aix-en-Provence, we took a quick, twelve minute train ride to Marseille to spend the weekend with my cousin, Dave, and his lovely partner, Nat. We have visited before, and they have each contributed to my blog post about Marseille. Click here to read that post. We arrived at their wonderful home to a delicious dinner and, bien sur, several glasses of rosé.

The next day, we took a ferry to Les Goudes, a little fishing village not far from Marseille, for a delicious lunch at La Marine des Goudes, with some of their friends.

I didn’t take many photos as I was busy gabbing with my cousin!

After a too short visit with Dave and Nat, we took the train to Paris, rented a car and drove four hours to Domfront en Poiraie, the town we lived near in Normandie. Domfront is an interesting medieval town with ruins of an 11th century chateau. Click here to read more.

We spent a lot of time in this town as it has some good restaurants and it is where we did most of our shopping. But our main reason for visiting was to see dear friends and neighbors when we lived in a little, nearby hamlet called LaThebaudiere.

LaThebaudiere is located off a quiet country road, down a long drive that cuts through a dairy farm. It’s a peaceful, tranquil place where we lived for two and a half years.

Here we enjoyed a day with our friends, getting caught up on all the neighborhood gossip and reminiscing about all the fun times we had together when we were neighbors.

This was the entrance to the unit we lived in called la Quincaillerie. It was originally the hardware store for the area back in the late 1700s.

The property is very pretty. We spent many happy hours here, enjoying walks and time with neighbors.

After another too short visit, we drove back to Paris where we spent several weeks visiting even more friends and enjoying the city.

It was so nice to see our friends and family while in France. We will be visiting again soon, as we are already planning another trip back to France in the spring.

Let us be grateful to people who make us happy, they are the charming gardeners who make our souls blossom. Marcel Proust

As always, I would love to hear from you, so feel free to leave a message.

I hope your day is filled with special friends,

Trcia
