What do you think of when envisioning the color blue? Do you think of the ocean, sea, sky or perhaps a favorite item of clothing? Blue is connected with relaxation, peace and tranquility; however, it can also evoke feelings of melancholy, as in ‘singing the blues’. Thus our thoughts can vary significantly when thinking of, or seeing the color.
A few interesting facts about the color are:
1. It is considered the rarest color in nature, as it is found only in water, sky and a few flowers.
2. It is the most popular color in the world, followed by green and red.
3. Studies have shown that workers are more productive when working in rooms painted in blue.
4. Blue pigments in art were quite expensive years ago, so the color was reserved for important elements in paintings, like a brilliant blue robe for a dignitary.
Blue is my favorite color, and I have many blue photos in my collections. Here are a few of my favorites.

How sweet to be a cloud. Floating in the blue! Winnie the Pooh

Every flower is a soul blossoming in nature. Gerard de Nerval

Roll on, thou deep and dark blue ocean. Lord Byron

A certain blue enters the soul. Henri Matisse

I hope you enjoyed these images in blue. May your day be filled with a palette of color.

A wonderful selection. I think of the blues of chionodoxa and scilla with special pleasure because they announce that spring is coming.

I love blue too. We’re just across from Galiano Island right now on the Sunshine Coast. Plenty of blue around us. I love that fireplace in Chateau Royal de Blois! Maggie

Have this big smile on my face at the moment 🙂 ! Was brought up as a child with so much navy blue in my wardrobe I have never liked or used it as an adult – black, white, beiges and greys for me . . . everything matches to boot 🙂 ! Nope – red and green don’t do it either – tho’ I love olive and soft offbeat pinks/oranges . . . Do love your photos across the board tho’ – thank you for the variety . . .

A certain blue enters the soul, indeed. My favourite colour too. I loved looking at your collection of blue photos. How lovely would it be to live in a blue house in Tenby or swim in the blue Croatian sea.

Interesting facts about blue and I’m not surprised to read that it is the most popular colour in the world. It is a colour that always looks beautiful in nature (with water and the sky my favourites). You have so many amazing photos – if I had to choose (and it’s difficult), I would say that Dubrovnik’s blue is the most beautiful to me … but actually, I like them all!
