L’Espoir du Hibou, Seoul, South Korea

Seoul is a huge city with a wide variety of restaurants and street vendors selling all sorts of regional delicacies, and when we visited last year, we enjoyed many of the traditional dishes while dining out. One highlight in particular was an evening spent with our niece and her family (who live in Seoul) at their favorite Korean BBQ restaurant. Another highlight was a long, leisurely lunch at L’Espoir du Hibou, a Michelin rated French restaurant in Gangham-Gu. Chef Lim Ki-hak is famous for his traditional onion soup, and also for his creative and delicious homemade dishes.

We enjoyed the prix fixe meal which, as the name indicates, includes several courses, one of which was the famous French Onion Soup. C’était délicieux!

My husband, theTravelersketcher, enjoyed Chef’s famous, house made terrine for his appetizer.

The menu includes a wide variety of traditional French dishes and there is a quiet terrace for dining al fresco in the warm weather. The food, service and location are all impeccable and I highly recommend visiting this restaurant if you find yourself in Seoul.
