Travel Photos of California

California became a state on September 9, 1850 and is home to the highest (Sierra Nevada Range) and the lowest (Death Valley) points in the contiguous United States. It has nine National Parks, more than any other state and is the birth place of Apple computers and the Barbie doll. There are beaches, mountains, deserts, theme parks, movie studios, rock climbing, butterfly watching, surfing, wineries, great food and so much more, you will not be disappointed. Here are a few of my favorite photos from my travels in the Golden State.

There are many wine growing regions throughout the state. Pictured above is the rugged, hilly wine country of Sonoma County with miles and miles of vineyards. There are over 3,600 wineries to choose from throughout the state.

Tough decision!

Bella Winery pictured above offers delicious wines in a ruggedly, lovely location.

Soda Rock Winery located in Sonoma County is an absolute favorite of mine and theTravelsketcher. Tragically, the historic building that was once a general store and post office for early settlers in the area, was destroyed in the Kincade Fire. Wine tastings are still available though, in other buildings on the property.

In addition, you’ll find great restaurants to go with all that wine. Brix in Napa County is another favorite of ours, as is Barndiva in Healdsburg.

You’ll find interesting architecture and gorgeous parks; Balboa Park in San Diego is probably the most famous and another favorite of mine.

I hope this post motivates you to visit California once it is safe to travel again. When we reach that point, I’ll be heading there ASAP! It’s one of my favorite places to visit, and as a bonus, my sister and family live there.
