As some of you may know, we are getting ready to move to France in a few weeks. Our visas have been approved, our condo has sold, and now our biggest hurdle is working out the details of getting our cat, Neville, to France. But that seems to be falling into place, like everything else.
This is our last weekend in Mukilteo. We have lived here for close to six years and have grown to love this little town by Puget Sound. We have made dear friends, become part of the community, and theTravelsketcher even has a bi-monthly column in the local newspaper, the Mukilteo Beacon, which will continue once we’re in France.

Since moving here, I have enjoyed taking walks in the neighborhood, so let me take you on a virtual walk to show you some of my favorite places.
I never tire of the view of Whidbey Island from the housing development across the street. It’s one of my favorite places to walk.

Narbeck Wetland Sanctuary is also a nice place for a stroll. You’ll find a variety of birds here.

Japanese Gulch is always a good choice for a nice walk. It’s woodsy, mossy, lush green and mostly quiet except for the occasional swishing and babbling of moving water.

There’s a community garden here and you’ll find an assortment of amusingly painted rocks.

Big Gulch Trail is a great place for a hike. It’s just a short walk from our home and has a variety of trails to choose from.

And of course, the beaches and waterfront are ruggedly stunning.

I enjoy taking photos of flowers and animals on my walks. We have an abundance of deer, eagles, rabbits, ducks, and other wildlife in the area.

Leaving this neighborhood will be bittersweet, but I think the neighborhood in France will be equally as beautiful.
Wishing you grand adventures,
Tricia
Yes, bittersweet for sure. I don’t think I have ever felt as part of a community as here.

Whidbey Island looks absolutely gorgeous! I have never even heard of an aggressive owl, but I’m guessing if he/she has got its own sign, it must be a real meanie. Wishing you a smooth ride for the final stages of your move and of course all the best for Neville.

Whidbey is a beautiful place! It’s the largest island is WA State, and has much to offer. Thanks for your comment and good vibes. My niece and her husband recently traveled from Seoul to Colorado with two toddlers and two cats; if they can manage that, I’m hoping we can handle getting Neville to France.

wow, what a lovely place to live! I think I would rarely be inside with so many beautiful places to enjoy so close to home. I can see why the move is so bittersweet. I’m excited for your new chapter and to see all that you discover in France 🙂
